Software Engineer Contractor, Telephony

We’re looking for a Software Engineer with strong experiences in telephony infrastructure (Asterisk), on a fixed term contract of 3 months duration.

We’re looking for someone passionate and creative to join our dynamic team in creating innovative conversational AI products for customer service. Collaborating with other engineers, your responsibilities will involve building an in-house telephony pipeline for our conversational AI products.

Over the next 3 months you will be:

  • Joining our infrastructure team, and have a direct impact on our telephony infrastructure.
  • Developing an in-house Asterisk telephony server to support our conversational AI products from the ground up.
  • Integrating the Asterisk server with 3rd party ASR providers and our AWS services.
  • Deploying the Asterisk server to our cloud and improve latency and system robustness.
  • Mentoring and working closely with other engineers.

Minimal Requirements:

  • 2+ years of Experience in Asterisk Telephony Server, including installation and maintenance of an Asterisk deployment.
  • Experience in working with SIP RFCs & audio codecs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve VOIP related problems. Identify root causes and recommend workarounds.
  • Working knowledge of WAN & LAN networks specially SD WAN, MPLS, VPN.
  • Working proficiency in verbal and written English

Preferred Requirements:

  • Understand fundamentals of Linux system administration.
  • Understanding of security with regards to SIP.
  • Understanding of enterprise VOIP architecture including intermediary devices relating to SIP & VOIP networks.
  • Familiarity with VOIP CTI integration methods
  • Experience with monitoring SIP services.
  • Experience with one or more cloud services: AWS, GCP, Azure
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Golang, JavaScript, Java or C/C++
